What advice does Uncle Axel give regarding Anne's marriage? Is this good advice?
Uncle Axel tells David to kill Anne before she 'kills' them all. In my mind this is both a good and bad idea. In theory, it solves the problem and the threat will go down but if actually played out there could be a lot of flaws in this plan. If they find out who killed Anne they are going to be questioned about why they did it. One out of the six people would have to carry that burden as well, so how could they choose? Also, no matter how high the risk of being backstabbed, Anne is still their friend and she's still someones daughter and wife. So it was a good idea, but I don't think they could do it.
Uncle Axel's advice to David about Anne's marriage is that he says that they should kill her before "the sword is over your heads" (96). I think is good advice becuase not only is she putting herself in danger but the whole group. She is trying to be normal but they think that sooner or later she is going to tell him about all of them. So he is just saying that either 1 dies or they all die.
As the previous person says, Uncle Axel's advice to David is to kill Anne before she tells Alan about all of them. I also think it's a good advice, but not the best. Uncle Axel's way might save more people by sacrificing one person. However, there is no clear proof that Anne's going to tell Alan about their ability. As she does, She might totally forget about them and her ability and live happily and normally for good. In addition, Rachel is an actual sister of Anne and she would feel horrible to kill her sister to survive.
David also says to Uncle Axel, "It wouldn't just murder, Uncle Axel. It'd be something worse, as well; like violating part of ourselves for ever" (P96).
As others have said, Uncle Axel's advice regarding Anne's marriage is that Anne should be killed. Axel believes that she should be killed so that there will be no reason for the rest of the group to worry about being found out. I believe that this advice can be taken both as good advice and bad. I feel this can be taken as good advice because Axel is trying to protect David and the group, and that is realy the only way that they can be garanteed to be kept a secret. But on the other hand, this is very bad advice because it is murder, you are killing someone because you are scared of them doing something that they might not even do. It was kind of a catch 22 with David because he knew that he couldn't kill Anne, she is like family, and one of the only few that are "one of them". Although David didn't want to kill Anne, he had no problem thinking about killing Alan, which I feel has alot to do with what happened with Sophie.
David's Uncle Axel's advice is that he beleive's Anne should be killed. He think's this because, once she is killed there will be no reason for the group to have anxiety about being found out. Escpecially because David has no trust for Allan. I beleive that his advice is rather harsh, but it does in a way make sense because there would get rid of their anxiety of being found out. Although it would be terribly hard for the group because of how close Anne is to them.
The advice that Uncle Axel gives regarding Anne's marriage is kill her to David. In my opinion, this is not good advice. This is because she didn't even do anything and no one knows that she would be do whatever that makes them to be dangerous or not. To me, telling David to kill her is shown in bad. Also, she is still thier friend. That is why i think his advice is not good.
Alan is normal. They fear she won't be able to keep their secret forever. Further more, David knows Alan is mean and can't be trusted. He is the person, who discovered Sophie is a mutant and informed on her. David worries that Alan already knows and is mutant and he is blackmailing her.
As previously stated; Uncle Axel advised David to arrange for Alan to be killed. Alan, being a normal resident of Waknuk, would report any sort of deviation he could, which would surely include the thought shapes that David and the rest of the group can use. He advises this because being married to Anne would mean he would eventually learn of any secrets she knows, which includes the group. I think this is good advise because it saves numerous lives instead of just keeping Alan alive.
Uncle Axel is definately against the idea that Anne wants to marry Alan, the one who exposed Sophie. "Uncle Axel shook his head disapprovingly again," (95), while David was explaining the whole situation to him. He thinks that it i's "socially dangerous" (95) and that it could endanger the lives of all eight of them. Uncle Axel was also telling David, that you have to kill before they kill you, in order to survive. He advised them to get rid of Alan before it's too late. David said, "I knew that Uncle Axel had proposed the only practical solution," (97) which was to kill Alan, before he risked their secrecy being revealed.
