Describe the message Petra receives from far off - What does the message say? Who is speaking?
Petra recieves a message from far away to the south-west. It is someone asking questions about who she is and where she is. They also say that they have had her afraid thoughts before. Petra finds out that they are a long long way away on an island called Zealand. She also tells Petra that her world has "lots of houses, different from Waknuk houses, and much, much bigger. And there are funny carts without horses running along the roads. And things in the air, with whizzing things on top of them."(p.136) This is the Zealand lady speaking to her
The message that Petra receives from far off is from the south-west, as Petra had pointed out. The lady from far away, that is able to communicate with Petra, is able to tell her that she is from a place called Sealand. Petra and the other's then decide to call her the Sealand lady throughout the rest of the novel. The message that the Sealand lady sent to Petra were questions. She was asking who Petra was and where she was. When Petra tried to explain it to the Sealand lady, she didn't quite understand. Petra did manage to get an answer from the Sealand lady about where she was. The Sealand lady told her that "there are two parts of it, with lots of sea all round". (p.136)
As the others said, Petra hears a message from a lady in a south-west place far away. Petra says it's "somebody asking questions" (p.136). Petra insists that the lady is from Zealand, but the others believe that Sealand makes more sense. Petra explains, "There are to parts of it with lots of sea all around. From where she is you can see the sun shining from miles and miles and it's all blue" (p.136). She says that there are "lots of houses, different from Waknuk houses, and much, much bigger. And there are funny carts without horses running along the roads." (p, 136). This description of the scenery of Sealand she recieves is similar to David's earlier dream because it describes a city. Petra also recieves evidence that the people of Sealand have similar powers to David, Rosalind and the group. Although, the lady, like Petra has much stronger powers (p. 145).
